international performing arts biennial
The bi-annual festival founded and directed by Batarita, organized by Touchpoint Art Foundation was initiated in 2009 with the aim to introduce various Asian traditional and contemporary performing art forms and tendencies to Eastern-European audience.
At the beginning of the festival had a special focus on butoh, the Japanese avant-garde dance form. Later on it presented butoh pieces and several international productions sharing the philosophy of butoh or edgy ideas.
By now the Biennial has become one of the region’s most important event series presenting artists and professionals mostly who are the most prominent representatives of the non-verbal arts of contemporary Asia.
Since 2009 artists from Japan, Korea, China, Hong Kong, Thailand, Mexico, Peru, Canada, France, Spain, Russia, Israel and Hungary were invited into the program. Each year workshops, dance film screenings and artist talks are held, along with an exhibition presenting world-famous dance masters.
